Your responsibilities

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 6-7 years of sales experience in a custom equipment industry
  • Prior supervisory and management skills
  • 2-4 years of Schenck Process or Material Handling industry and product knowledge preferred

Specialized skills/Knowledge:

  • Competent with time management, deadlines and pressure and able to handle frequent interruptions with minimal supervision
  • Competent in sales area; results oriented
  • Costing, quoting, selling and closing
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills and able to interact with internal and external contacts
  • Professional attitude, image, demeanor, negotiation skills and effective telephone skills
  • Proficient knowledge as to the reading and use of blueprints, schematics and specifications for electrical and mechanical applications
  • Exhibits effective leadership and supervisory experience, interviewing, training, assignment of work, appraisal of performance and mentoring and coaching
  • Exhibits initiative, accountability and detail oriented
  • Able to use judgment and independent thinking in the resolution of issues
  • Basic knowledge of online computer systems and ERP systems, database, spreadsheet and word processing abilities (Word, Excel and ACT)

Character of Supervision:

  • Manage Applications Engineers
  • Interview, hires, trains/mentors, assigns/checks work, performance reviews and conducts discipline if required

Responsibilities:

  • Directs, coordinates, schedules and supervises the Weighing & Feeding AE team and is accountable for overall results
  • Works with the Product Manager to establish the current project/quote list, assign priority and maintain deadlines with acceptable cost margins and timelines
  • Coordinate project activities with other department and functional areas
  • Production Engineering/Manufacturing – provide common sales focal point for setting priorities (outside the norm) for current and future orders in house
  • Test Lab – provide common sales focal point for coordination with the Test Lab on the priority of active projects in the testing queue
  • Technical Support – liaison for the internal and external customers
  • Works with the Product Manger to establish standard product costing and pricing in accordance with related budgets
  • Published price lists and company custom price setting policies
  • Accountable for goals related to ISO/quality and order cost/margin guidelines
  • Assist with sales contract negotiation as necessary
  • Report and maintain metrics and performance for AE team, quote turn-around, dollar value and amount issued as well as trends
  • Assist Product Manager in preparing budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning activities associated with the department
  • Maintain a constant awareness of safety as it pertains to the office and off-site environments by participating in intercompany audits for same.
  • Travel when and where needed to support our sales objectives

Physical Activities:

  • In a standard workday this person will be required to sit 60%, stand 10%, walk 15%, bend 5%, climb 5% and lift 5%
  • Individual will be required to lift demo feeders, equipment, bags or boxes of bulk material up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Repetitive use of the hands as to fine manipulation, dexterity and coordination will be required for keyboarding and frequent grasping motions of the hands and pushing and pulling motions of arms when manipulating a “mouse”, handling paper, opening drawers, cabinets and in moving product
  • Visual requirements include ability to read blueprints, computer printouts and computer spreadsheet applications
  • Temperature and humidity factors are normal
  • Exposure to hazardous mechanical, electrical and chemical conditions to include fumes, odors, dust, etc. will be occasional with plant or site visits
  • Individual may have to wear personal protective equipment which could include safety glasses or earplugs
  • Total awareness of the office and manufacturing environment as it pertains to the safety of employees, visitors, operation of any equipment and handling of materials or products is required
