Staff, Data Product Lead

As we continue to scale our data capabilities, a growing need has emerged to turn our wealth of external data into structured, discoverable, and standardized products that drive impact. We’re looking for a Data Product Lead (Director or Staff level) to spearhead this effort: someone who can bring order to complexity by creating a robust data catalog, establish product standards (leveraging DCAT and DPROD), and improve discoverability for our data science and AI teams.

This role will play a critical part in registering and organizing external data assets and knowledge bases into accessible data products within Palantir Foundry. You’ll define and implement metadata standards, develop search functionality that helps users find the right data fast, and create the foundation for a scalable, intelligent data ecosystem.

Requirements

Experience & Domain Expertise

• 7+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or data product development, ideally within complex or scaled environments
• Demonstrated success designing and launching data catalogs and metadata management frameworks that improve discoverability and reuse
• Hands-on expertise with data discovery tools, data lineage tracking, and building enterprise search functionality tailored to user needs
• Working knowledge of AI/ML data requirements and the infrastructure that supports analytics and model development

Standards, Tools & Implementation

• Practical application of DCAT (Data Catalog Vocabulary) and DPROD (Data Product Standard) in structuring data products
• Experience implementing or customizing data catalogs within enterprise platforms, particularly Palantir Foundry
• Ability to define metadata schemas and apply data product standards to external datasets, knowledge bases, and graph models

Collaboration & Influence

• Strong cross-functional leadership, with experience partnering closely with data engineers, data scientists, IT, and business stakeholders
• Proven ability to drive adoption of standards, gather inputs across teams, and influence how data products are structured and surfaced
• Skilled communicator with a track record of managing change across technical and non-technical teams

Execution & Problem Solving

• Able to translate complex business and technical requirements into structured, scalable catalog solutions
• Comfortable leading iterative development—building prototypes, deploying MVPs, and refining through user feedback in agile environments

Benefits

Compensation:  

The expected annual salary for this role is $285,000. A discretionary bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package.

Position Location:

This position will work out of the TWG office on a hybrid schedule in Santa Monica, CA. Consideration for a different working location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
