Job Description
Summary
QuEra Computing is seeking a talented and innovative researcher with a background in AMO theory and/or quantum optics. In this role, you will develop high-fidelity quantum gate protocols and improve the speed, robustness, and overall performance of quantum logic operations on QuEra’s digital neutral atom hardware. You will work closely with experimental teams to define technical requirements, build internal tools for pulse simulation and control optimization, and collaborate with the compiler, applications, and QEC teams to align low-level gate protocols with algorithmic needs. Your contributions will support the co-design of logical circuit primitives tailored to hardware constraints and inform architecture-level decisions—such as qubit layout and error correction schemes—based on theoretical insights.
Qualifications
- PhD in theoretical quantum physics with a focus on AMO physics, quantum optics, or a related field
- Strong experience in modeling pulse-level control and performing pulse optimization for quantum systems
- Experience with simulating open quantum systems and decoherence processes
- Exceptional publication record in relevant areas of quantum science
- Proven track record of collaboration with experimental groups
- Proficiency in Python and/or Julia (ideally both)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of typical quantum noise processes on AMO platforms
- Background in modeling AMO experiments, neutral atom platforms, quantum control, and/or many-body physics
- Knowledge of benchmarking protocols for quantum gates and circuits
- Basic familiarity with quantum error correction methods
- Experience with linear and nonlinear optimization techniques
- Basic familiarity with quantum networking protocols
