Job Description
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
o Receive prescription from patient.
o Prepare outpatient orders for checking by pharmacist.
o Assist in maintaining patient medication profiles and records.
o Package drugs and pre-pour liquids (where applicable).
o Hand Deliver medications to patients.
o Stock pharmacy working areas.
o Return drugs to shelves.
o Order drugs and supplies.
o Maintain inventory stock cards.
o Prepare purchase orders.
o Check in orders from vendors.
o Check stock for expired, unusable, and excessive items.
o Participate in taking of pharmacy inventory.
o Bill and credit patients.
o Prepare any necessary paperwork or reports for forwarding to Cardinal Health Innovative Delivery
Solutions, etc.
o Assist as necessary in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of pharmacy.
o Perform office support: answer telephone, typing, filing, photocopying, billing and crediting, data entry,
ringing on the cash register, etc.
o Make off-campus pickups and deliveries as necessary.
o Maintain bulletin boards, information files, etc.
o Attend staff meetings, in-service programs, etc.
o Participate in orientation and teaching programs as appropriate.

o Maintain professional working relationships at all times, with the pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses,
o Understand that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the
department change.
o Be available to the customer/patients at all times.
o Maintain friendly and helpful attitude at all times when dealing with customers.

meetings or reads meeting minutes.

o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality
improvement activities.
o Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and
policies.
o Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe
environment for patients, public and staff.
o Have no occurrence of allowing prescription medications to leave the pharmacy without being checked by
the pharmacist.
o Have no complaints from any department or customer concerning telephone manners or attitude during
personal interactions.
o Keep all patient identification and information confidential.
o Keep all confidential information locked after hours.
o Perform assigned duties completely, accurately and efficiently.
o Have no filling errors during any 40-hour week.
o Have no billing errors, i.e., wrong product code, wrong quantity, or wrong patient account number for any
random group of ten patient accounts audited.
o Have no occurrence of products placed on shelves without price and expiration stickers.
o Have vendor deliveries checked, priced, and placed on shelves prior to the end of the day of delivery

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)
o Must be able to legally work in the United States
o Must be able to pass a background check
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable)
o Must complete employee health meeting
o Must possess a clean driving record and pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check and meet insurability
Guidelines (if applicable) – see below
o Must be 21 years of age of older
o Must possess a valid driver’s license
o Must not have three (3) or more violations in three years
o Must not have any of the following violations, regardless of the time period:
⪠Homicide involving a vehicle
⪠Using a vehicle to elude an officer
⪠Hit and run
⪠Manslaughter with a vehicle
⪠Felony with a vehicle
⪠False report to police department
⪠Permitting an unlicensed driver to drive
o Any two or more preventable accidents in 3 years – a preventable accident is any traffic accident
which results in property damage and/or personal injury, regardless of who was injured, what
property was damaged, to what extent, or where it occurred, in which the driver in question failed to
exercise every reasonable precaution or action to avoid the accident. Driving to avoid preventable
accidents is defensive driving. The fact that the driver was not charged with a traffic violation by
law enforcement is not a part of our definition.
o Any driver convicted of any of the following within the last five years:
⪠Any alcohol or drug related offense including, but not limited to, driving while under the
influence of alcohol or drugs.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
o High School Diploma or equivalent required
o National Pharmacy Technician Certifications (passed within one year of hire if not already obtained)
o CO State Board of Pharmacy Technician License (or provisional license if not certified)
Experience:
o Desire to work in healthcare environment
o Excellent telephone etiquette
Position Classification: Non-Exempt
Compensation Range: $18.47 to $25.86
