Job Description

Job Summary: The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service while handling all customer transactions in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The Cashier plays an essential role in ensuring that each customer’s experience is positive and seamless, from taking their order to processing payments accurately. Cashiers also maintain a clean and organized front-line area and work as part of a team to support the overall store operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:
    • Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
    • Take customer orders, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations as needed.
    • Process customer payments quickly and accurately using the register and various forms of payment (cash, credit cards, etc.).
    • Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and ensure a positive resolution.
  2. Order Accuracy:
    • Accurately enter customer orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system.
    • Ensure that the food and beverage orders are correct before handing them to the customer.
    • Verify that orders are prepared according to the customer’s preferences and Charley’s Cheesesteaks' standards.
  3. Cash Handling:
    • Handle cash transactions and provide correct change.
    • Balance cash register at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring that all transactions are recorded properly.
    • Follow all cash handling procedures to ensure security and accuracy.
  4. Store Maintenance and Cleanliness:
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked cashier area.
    • Clean and sanitize the front-line area, including counters, condiment stations, and dining areas, as needed.
    • Refill drink stations and condiments throughout the shift.
  5. Team Support:
    • Assist other team members as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
    • Help in stocking supplies and maintaining an orderly work environment.
    • Support the kitchen team by assisting with order packing or other tasks during busy times.
  6. Compliance and Safety:
    • Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and workplace safety.
    • Ensure that all food and beverage items are stored and served according to health and safety regulations.
    • Report any equipment or safety issues to management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or cashier role is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Basic math skills and experience handling money.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods.
  • Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (varies depending on store needs).
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
