About this Position
The General Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and operations duties at the water plant, water resource recovery facility, lift stations, and booster stations. Duties include maintaining the plant's appearance, conducting monthly safety inspections, maintaining safety equipment, and other tasks as needed. They work Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. They are occasionally required to work beyond normal scheduled work hours.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Maintain the appearance of facilities, including entrances at security gates
- Work with in-house and external service providers, contractors, and vendors
- Complete housekeeping duties, including touching up paint, for general public areas
- Assist with tasks assigned to the operations, maintenance, ICE, and well crews
- Pick up and deliver parts and supplies from various locations
- Perform inspections and maintain safety equipment
- Assist with and/or perform any specialized projects or assignments
- Pick up and deliver mail
- Obtain Water Operator and Wastewater Operator licenses according to the designated schedule:
- Temporary license within 10 days
- Class "D" license within one (1) year
Necessary Skills
- Ability to safely use a tractor and a frontend loader
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
