Capital Solutions

Our Capital Solutions Group provides capital-raising services for a wide variety of clients, from large, publicly held, multinational corporations to privately held companies either sponsor-backed or founded and run by entrepreneurs. In partnership with our Industry Coverage teams and Financial Sponsors Group, we combine superior sector knowledge and relationships with significant expertise in structuring and syndicating financings.

We approach each transaction with the goal of creating a capital structure that enables our clients to achieve their strategic objectives with the best terms available in the market. Houlihan Lokey has acted as a placement agent, an underwriter, or a strategic advisor for a wide variety of financings.

General Partner ("GP") Advisory

Houlihan Lokey's General Partner Advisory ("GPA") M&A team advises private capital firms (private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure) on firm-level initiatives, including minority stake sales ("GP Stakes"), majority sales, firm-level financings and NAV loans. Founded in 2020, Houlihan's GPA platform has quickly become one of the most active and respected advisors to private capital general partners on the street. The team has closed numerous deals over the past 5 years and is currently engaged on both sell-side and buy-side mandates on behalf of private capital firms located in the US and Europe.

General Partner Advisory is one of Houlihan's youngest M&A investment banking businesses. The team is growing and continually accepting more and larger assignments.

Job Description

Associates work on transactions that provide exposure to various clients in the private equity industry and to a range of investment banking services, including sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic consulting. As an Associate, you will be responsible for managing multiple live mandates at any given time. Your key responsibilities will include (i) building and auditing financial models, (ii) communicating directly with private equity managing partners and CFOs, and (iii) managing and coordinating multiple parties (both internally and externally). Relevant aptitudes for the job include financial analysis, written and verbal communication, research, and presentation creation. The role is one of Houlihan's most analytically intensive - advanced skills in valuation and financial modeling are required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant investment banking, private equity or similar experience

  • An undergraduate degree, including an exemplary academic record, from an accredited institution

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Advanced financial modeling experience (Excel)

  • Extensive experience across all aspects of the Microsoft Office suite (i.e. PowerPoint and Word)

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passed CFA Level I (or higher)

  • Relevant valuation experience

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills

Compensation and Benefits

Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package, which may include other components such as discretionary incentive compensation. The firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible salary range for this role at the time of posting is:

$175,000.00-$225,000.00

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant qualifications, skills, and experience and the location where this position may be filled.
