ARAC tutors provide one-on-one and/or small-group instruction to their tutees. ARAC tutors control their schedules each semester by selecting their recurring weekly schedule for the ReadUnited Online tutoring program, as well as their preferred day(s) and time(s) of tutoring. The online program runs Monday-Thursday with shifts in hour increments between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm. The ARAC tutor's schedule remains consistent for the duration of the semester

Responsibilities of an ARAC tutor include

  • submitting timesheets on time on Workday and BearPulse
  • participating consistently in follow-up, documentation, and evaluation activities

Requirements:

Must be an enrolled Mercer student with a federal work-study award. Must be available to tutor during the school day or after school (3:30-6 pm) for a minimum of two hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week. Must be able to pass a background check for the Bibb County School District or nonprofit partner.

The ideal ARAC tutor should possess a civic mindset, the ability to work with diverse communities, and a willingness to discuss issues such as cultural competency, racial equity, implicit bias, and other topics related to educational and social justice. Previous experience working with children in a mentoring or tutoring capacity is preferred, but not required. ARAC tutors should be competent in multitasking, time management, and prioritizing work assignments.

Pay rate: $15.00/hour to $16.00/hour, Depends on ARAC Experience and Good Standing with the Position
