Job Overview: The Senior Director of Retail Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for setting strategic direction and managing operational execution across multiple tribal enterprises, including retail and recreational businesses under the SMSC. This role ensures operational excellence, sustained profitability, team engagement, and exceptional customer experiences. The Senior Director of Retail Operations leads cross-functional collaboration, drives innovation, and fosters a performance-based culture aligned with the organization's mission and values.

Create Lasting Change: The Impact You'll Have:

  • Lead strategic planning efforts that align operational processes, enabling technologies, and organizational structures to support enterprise-wide goals.
  • Drive operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and productivity gains across all enterprises.
  • Oversee enterprise leaders, fostering leadership growth, team performance, and collaborative success.
  • Develop and manage multi-enterprise budgets, monitor financial performance, lead business reviews, and address variances to achieve profitability targets.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across all business areas.
  • Evaluate and update operational processes and policies to reflect evolving business needs and best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of people, processes, technology, and data that drive each enterprise's performance.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Business Council, leadership teams, and other key stakeholders by providing updates, insights, and recommendations on priority initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive landscapes to refine strategies and stay ahead of market changes.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in retail, recreational, or enterprise operations with large P&L responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational execution, and long-range business development.
  • Proven ability to link operational KPIs to financial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen; skilled at driving revenue, controlling costs, and improving profit margins.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational change leadership skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing enterprise-level operations.
  • Preferred:
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in both functional department leadership and profit center (business unit) leadership.
