Position summary
The Scientist II/Sr. Scientist (“Sci II/Sr Sci”) is a highly motivated lab bench in vitro pharmacologist that contributes to multiple active research programs and is a valuable member of a collaborative team. The Sci II/Sr Sci generates and maintains cell lines, designs and oversees the development and optimization of in vitro assays, and performs routine cell-based functional and radioligand binding assays to support lead compound identification of multiple active projects. The Sci II/Sr Sci will be involved in developing high throughput screens and hit validation from such screens. The Sci II/Sr Sci will mentor research associate level scientist(s), oversee and QC the analysis and interpretation of data and present results in in vitro team and program meetings. The Sci II/Sr Sci is able to adopt and learn new processes quickly to be able to operate independently at the bench as well as coordinate the work of junior members of the team.

Position is 100% on-site in San Diego; occasional weekend work hours may be required.

Pay Range
Radionetics evaluates a variety of factors in determining individual pay decisions, which may include relevant education, experience, and skills; internal equity; complexity and responsibility of the role; and market demand relative to the position. Geographic location may also be a consideration in evaluating salary when candidates work in states outside of California.

Essential job functions and duties
- Perform cell culture of primary and recombinant cell lines.
- Generate membrane preparations from cultured cell lines.
- Perform radioligand binding assays.
- Optimize and develop time resolved cell- and membrane-based kinetic binding and functional assays and run these assays routinely once validated.
- Independently analyze data using graphing and analysis software programs.
- Interpret and present data to internal teams.
- Maintain electronic lab notebooks and any other required recordkeeping.
- Mentor junior scientist(s)
- Work closely with in a multi-disciplinary team environment to align in vitro studies with overall project goals
- Maintain a work environment focused on scientific integrity and quality.
- Perform other duties as required by business needs.
Minimum required qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in biology or a related scientific discipline or M.Sc. or Bachelors with comparable experience.
- Relevant hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in an industry setting.
- Experience with software programs such as GraphPad Prism, Excel, and PowerPoint is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Desire and ability to expand knowledge and skills in a broad range of techniques.
