We are currently hiring a Senior Design Manager to focus on overseeing the Design and Engineering phases of a large, high-profile project in Los Angeles, CA. Experienced Project Architects or Engineers from leading large Architecture or Engineering firms with strong client and organizational skills are ideal candidates. This position will be based in downtown Los Angeles and is a great opportunity to join a leading Construction Management firm.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and Project Management in a fast-paced demanding environment, collaborating closely with prestigious clients and consultants to deliver design excellence.
Collaborate with staff to manage planning and pre-design activities such as feasibility studies, space utilization studies, and project chartering.
Lead development through the Programming, Concept, SD, DD, CD, and CA phases employing meetings, workshops, reviews, and site work to ensure complete and coordinated documentation and execution.
Demonstrate comprehensive experience in the design, engineering, and building process.
Establishes and follows an effective and efficient design review process to ensure that the design meets the overall goals and objectives for each project.
Monitors project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations, and updates.
Take ownership of responsibility with a hands-on approach, attentive to strategy and detail.
Leverage strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide attentive client service and effectively address complex issues and situations.
Demonstrate strong personal initiative, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.
Create management deliverables including presentations, reporting, tables, minutes, logs.
Use knowledge and understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequences.
Consistent on-site presence for active construction projects required.
Develop rigorous analyses and reviews of developing design and engineering documents.
Collaborate in the successful cost and schedule management of the project.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering is required. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in elite architecture or engineering firms on medium to large scale projects. Prior experience with public works projects preferred. Detailed understanding and experience in the design and development process of high-rise commercial buildings as well as construction methods, materials, and sequences. Experience with seismic elements of projects.
Certification: Licensed Architect in the State of California is required.
