Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The overarching responsibilities of the Optimizely Expert is responsible for defining actionable content strategies and technical architecture, and for leading the team in executing the project vision. This role specifically focuses on leveraging Optimizely's Headless SaaS CMS in conjunction with Next.js and React, consuming content via GraphQL APIs. The ideal candidate works on cross-functional teams that help gather requirements, design and develop high-end web and mobile responsive websites and ultimately deliver our customers an amazing digital experience.

Position sits in West Des Moines and will work an onsite hybrid schedule

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in the Optimizely platform for design, debugging, planning, and content architecture.
  • Designs and develops UI components in Optimizely Headless SaaS CMS.
  • Develops front-end websites using React and Next.js that utilize Optimizely SaaS components for content.
  • Advises and directs integration between website "heads" and the Optimizely SaaS CMS solution.
  • Acts as an SME in the Optimizely platform for the purposes of design, debugging of issues, and planning.
  • Assists in the designs if user interactions on web pages.
  • Ensures cross-platform optimization for mobile phones.
  • Ensures responsiveness of applications.
  • Works alongside graphic designers for web design features.
  • Collaborates across time zones via video conferencing and software such as Slack, Jira, and GitHub.
  • Sees through a project from conception to finished product.
  • Codes, tests, and debugs new and existing web applications.
  • Creates comprehensive application documentation.
  • Provides weekly status reports on all completed, on-going and future projects in order to keep management and business stakeholders updated on progress.
  • Works with stakeholders to understand business requirements that are translated into technical solutions
  • Assists in Production support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration or related field of study; plus, four (4) plus year of software development and CMS experience.
  • Two (2) plus years of JavaScript/TypeScript experience.
  • One (1) plus years of recent Optimizely experience.
  • Experience with Project management using Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Reports: None

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

Web Development Certification a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of topics such as personalization, data synchronization, and other Optimizely products (ODP, Experimentation, CMP, Commerce) is a bonus.
  • Proficiency with Optimizely CMS and their various product offerings
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience of frameworks like React and Next.js.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically in AWS App Services, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such GIT and Terraform
  • Experience with Atlassian tool sets such as JIRA, Confluence
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to research issues and products.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues on code you've written, as well as code you've inherited.
  • Takes initiative; is highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Highly directed and self-motivated
