Thriving Center is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to expand and nurture high-impact referral partnerships across New York City. This role is focused on driving strategic growth by developing relationships with both medical providers (e.g., primary care, OB/GYN, psychiatry, and specialty practices) and employer organizations whose employees are covered under our in-network insurance plans.
This is a relationship-focused B2B growth position. The person in this role will serve as a connector, linking our clinical team with key external partners who can benefit from trusted, high-quality mental health services. You’ll be expected to identify businesses whose employees would benefit from accessible care, initiate partnerships with their HR or benefits teams, and establish consistent inbound referral channels from those relationships.
Success will be measured by the quality and consistency of the referral pipeline you build and maintain. This role is ideal for someone who understands healthcare dynamics, thrives in external relationship-building, and is motivated by creating long-term, mission-aligned partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a strong network of referring providers across NYC, including primary care, OB/GYN, psychiatry, physical therapy, and other aligned specialties.
- Identify businesses and employer groups whose employees are likely to be covered by in-network insurance plans and design tailored outreach strategies.
- Conduct regular outreach and relationship-building visits (in-person and virtual) to drive engagement, including meetings, lunches, events, and presentations.
- Nurture ongoing relationships with existing partners to ensure continued referral volume and satisfaction.
- Develop and operationalize a market-specific go-to-market (GTM) strategy targeting high-potential referral sources.
- Execute outreach campaigns to educate prospective partners on Thriving Center’s services, referral process, and clinical strengths.
- Attend and lead educational meetings, networking events, and business development presentations across community and industry venues.
- Act as a liaison between partners and internal clinical operations to ensure high-quality handoffs and patient experiences.
- Own KPIs related to number and quality of partnerships, frequency of engagement, and referral volume.
- Use CRM tools to document outreach, track leads, log meetings, and manage follow-ups.
- Drive results tied to both lead generation and partner retention; direct referrals will be tracked and tied to performance-based bonuses.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or outreach roles in healthcare, mental health, or employee wellness.
- Demonstrated experience with market research, provider sourcing, or healthcare practice analysis.
- Deep familiarity with the NYC healthcare or employer benefits landscape.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with a track record of using CRM tools to manage pipelines.
- Comfortable working independently, managing a field-based role, and delivering against clear performance targets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships within NYC’s health provider networks.
- Experience with insurance-aligned business development or provider outreach (e.g., BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United).
- Background working with employer health benefits, EAPs, or community wellness partnerships.
- Experience attending or speaking at provider networking groups, HR benefits events, or local medical society functions.
Benefits
- 401k Safe Harbor Plan
- Dental Insurance
- Health Insurance
- Unlimited Vacation
$100,000 - $140,000 a year
