Job Description
Drive impactful self-funded solutions as a Senior Underwriter by evaluating risk, pricing cases, and crafting strategic underwriting approaches. This leadership opportunity involves managing case workload, supporting dynamic sales efforts, nurturing key broker relationships, and mentoring junior underwriters. We're looking for a professional with strong analytical acumen, confident independent decision-making, and a commitment to best practices. You'll also play a vital role in process enhancements and cross-functional departmental projects.
Your Impact:
Evaluate, price, and propose rates and strategies for specific and aggregate benefits for self-funded prospects
Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards
Manage field office relationships regarding industry information, prospects, and regional medical trends
Formulate successful sales strategies with the sales team within general underwriting guidelines while ensuring profitability
Make independent decisions on case work using general underwriting guidelines
Act as a resource for other underwriters, sales teams, underwriting assistants, and claims
Analyze information such as industry, demographics, plan design, and PPO networks to determine acceptable risk levels
Accountable for the achievement of Profit, Persistency, and Growth Goals through financial analysis of employer groups
Able to be highly effective in a fast paced, seasonally very high production environment with constantly shifting priorities and ever present case level negotiations
Successful Candidate Will Have:
BA/BS degree prefer BA/BS degree preferred; 5+ or more years of Stop-Loss product underwriting experienced
Requires strong Microsoft Excel and Word knowledge
Ability to support/mentor Underwriting Assistant and underwriting staff
