Job Description
Job Summary
The Lead Software Engineer will act as a technical expert and champion for best practices, fostering collaboration with team manager, project managers, and other technical team members. With a focus on the low-code platform Retool, this position aims to drive innovation in the healthcare sector, improving business processes, identifying and implementing best practices and enhancing both employee and end user experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the technologies used, including Retool, SQL, JavaScript, and data modeling.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct code reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Management Collaboration:
- Act as the primary technical liaison with managers, ensuring alignment between technical execution and project goals.
- Participate in regular planning and review meetings to provide technical insights and status updates.
- Identify potential technical challenges and proactively offer solutions.
Application Development:
- Design, develop, and manage sophisticated applications on the Retool low-code platform, with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Create robust SQL queries and implement advanced data modeling techniques to manage complex datasets effectively and securely.
- Develop intuitive, dynamic user interfaces using JavaScript to enhance user experiences.
- Work with managers and infrastructure experts to ensure all applications meet healthcare industry standards and regulations for data privacy and security.
Team Collaboration and Support:
- Act as a go-to resource for the development team to address technical challenges and share innovative solutions.
- Foster open communication and collaboration within the team, ensuring shared knowledge and skill-building.
Quality Assurance:
- Lead the team in rigorous testing and debugging of applications to guarantee reliability, usability, and optimal performance.
- Oversee the maintenance, support, and updating of existing systems and platforms, ensuring long-term efficiency and reliability.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Encourage the team to adopt emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance application functionality and overall team productivity.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in application development, with a portfolio demonstrating leadership in projects and process improvements.
- Deep expertise in Retool low-code platform development, SQL, JavaScript, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with Snowflake and DBT is advantageous.
- Prior experience in the healthcare sector is highly beneficial, with a strong understanding of its unique operational challenges and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of leading and mentoring development teams.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
- Strong communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
