Job Description

THE POSITION:

The CIO will be located at MSPCA-Angell’s headquarters in Greater Boston. The team works in a hybrid capacity, with flexibility to work both on-site and from home.

Some of the duties include:

  • Sets direction based on alignment to MSPCA-Angell needs and general technology standards.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Organization’s cybersecurity strategy, ensuring the protection of systems, data and networks against internal and external threats.

  • Provides leadership and vision for the planning, design, development, implementation, training, operations and maintenance of technology.
  • Identifies and implements strategic plans to meet MSPCA-Angell goals and priorities and aligns MSPCA-Angell’s technology to business priorities.
  • Lead, inspire, mentor, develop, hire and guide a team of IT professionals.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and evaluates work.
  • Manages IT financials including annual budget process and monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepares operating and capital budget recommendations for technology portfolio and manages technology spend against plan.
  • Identifies opportunities to create operational efficiencies and streamline technology portfolio while reducing costs.
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders that promote trust and increase efficiency and effectiveness; balances individual client needs with MSPCA-Angell priorities assuring alignment with business strategies and objectives.
  • Ability to create and execute a data-centric vision that connects and leverages disparate data sources to drive insights.
  • Works closely with stakeholders to ensure systems and data integrity.
  • Continually improves the organization and the portfolio with an emphasis on recommending initiatives to improve business processes, end-user experience, and strategic alignment.
  • Ensures projects are completed within budget, MSPCA-Angell and schedule; engage third party vendors and internal partners as appropriate.
  • Mentors’ others within IT and partner departments in process, procedures, data integrity and other best practices.
  • Directs all technology vendor relationships, including selecting and engaging third party vendors, contract review and negotiations, and on-going assessment of fit.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in directing a complex technical environment with multiple stakeholders with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to deliver technology solutions that align to business needs.
  • Solid technical background: SaaS implementations, Cybersecurity, Data Management and Business Analytics, Network Infrastructure, Cloud Computing.
  • Experience in integration of disparate technologies and data platforms to build analytics capabilities.
  • Skilled and organized leader with experience in a similar role; customer/client focus – must understand the needs of our clients’ programs and administrative service divisions.
  • Direct experience collaborating with and presenting to Executive Leadership and Board of Directors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; both oral and written; able to articulate ideas to a variety of technical and non- technical audiences.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
