Functions
• Interface with project engineers and all other assigned employees within the Engineering workforce, Project Management, Planning, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, and Production.
• Enhance the capabilities and strengthen the individual weaknesses of assigned employees while enforcing company policies and engineering departmental processes.
• Monitor and execute Engineering Department performance objectives -- proactively correct deficiencies within his/her group.
• Accountable for achieving group performance objectives and reporting their status to the Director of Engineering and/or Vice President of Engineering, Commercial Programs.
• Interface with peer Engineering Managers and Directors as required to ensure proper group support is being made available to the rest of the Engineering Department.
• Develop executable processes in engineering for items contained in the various engineering logs such as the ABS and USCG comment resolution logs, requests for information logs, and others driving accountability using metrics within the Engineering Department.
• Attend and potentially lead "as required" meetings to generate resolution of issues on specific projects.
• Resource Management as related to Project Engineering, Production Package Support Group, and Field Engineering commitments:
Standard process updates and reviews
Group process enhancements and improvements
Internal customer (manufacturing) process productivity improvements
Create/review/refresh metrics required to effectively estimate projected costs
Provide input to develop detailed plan with commitment dates for execution
Provide commitment to and execute work to estimated budget and duration
Establish resource requirements, assist Engineering Operations and Human Resources (HR) in filling the requirements, and manage as needed to support the acquired projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises as needed employees, depending on assigned resources and workload. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Collaborates – Building partnership and working collaboratively with others to meet all objectives.
• Optimizes Work Processes – Constantly assuring quality and process improvement.
• Ensures that all supervised employees follow ESG Safety policies.
• Ensures that self and supervised group, follows ESG applicable policies.
Reporting Relationship
This position will report to Director of Engineering
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Must have as a minimum a B.S. in any Engineering discipline (Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, Ocean or Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering) from an ABET accredited institution (advanced degree preferred) and at least 10 years of directly applicable Project Engineering or Project Management experience along with 5 years of supervisor experience
Required
• Strong experience planning and implementing projects with groups of up to 10 people or more
• Strong skillset with interfacing with internal and external customers
• Strong understanding of the engineering and design process of marine vessels
• History working with typical Regulatory Body Requirements associated with the shipbuilding industry (i.e., ABS, and any other IACS member Classification Society, 46 CFR, IEEE, and The US Coast Guard)
• Strong understanding of not only technical requirements but of business and contractual requirements
• Strong knowledge of engineering, drawings and design products. Ability to read and interpret engineering products.
Desired
Personal competencies should include strong time management, complex problem solving, and dispute resolution skills. Additionally, the ability to communicate professionally and formally (via written correspondence) is a prime skill.
• The Project Engineering Group Manager must have the drive and discipline to monitor, maintain and enforce existing department policies and procedures, as well as develop said procedures as they are required to support new contract project requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• The Project Engineering Manager must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor, particularly in time critical or resource challenged scenarios.
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality
Working Conditions
This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.
- Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
- Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace
- Work surface is stable (flat)
