Job Description
Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Director, Nursing, the Certified Nursing Assistant is an active member of the department that collects data, provides comfort measures and basic care to patients. The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing care that is appropriate for the patients’ developmental age and is culturally sensitive.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education:
Requires a high school diploma in General Studies or a GED state certification.
- Experience:
Requires up to six months of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:
Requires and maintains a Certified Nursing Assistant certification and a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)
Requires and maintains a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Requires a current valid driver’s license. A Motor Vehicle Report is required upon hire and reviewed annually.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team with positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, visitors, physicians, staff and other departments of the organization.
- Provides direct support to the nursing staff in the delivery of quality patient care.
- Observes and reports patients status to the Registered Nurse
- Follows the Nurse Manager and nursing staff instructions and directions.
- Alerts the nursing staff and medical staff to observed changes in the patient’s condition.
- Assists patient with basic hygiene, hair and oral care as required.
- Complies with CRHS and department safety, infection control and performance improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of quality care and services.
- Maintains and expands knowledge of medical terminology.
- Documents care provided in the medical record.
- Presents a professional image to CRHS nursing, clinical and medical staff members, patient, families and visitors.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
