Assistant Teacher

Job Description

Assistant Teacher. This is a full-time, salaried position with a 208 day schedule. The teacher will assist various teachers throughout the day in the k-5 classrooms. Teacher will report to the Director.

Position Overview

Instructional Assistants support teachers throughout K-5 through assisting in classroom instruction, record keeping, preparation for lessons, supervision of students, and other duties as necessary.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

● Tutoring and/or testing students one-one-one or in small group settings

● Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and teaching in the classroom

● Supervising students during arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, and other times throughout the day

● Assisting the teacher with tasks such as preparing resources for lessons, grading, printing, and copy making, and record keeping

● Maintaining high expectations for both academics and behavior through a commitment to schoolwide policies and procedures and the classical model

Qualifications

The assistant teacher shall be a person who is well-organized, well-rounded, engaging, and who has the ability to interact joyfully with students, parents, and colleagues.

Additionally, strong candidates will possess:

 • Ability and commitment to furthering the classical mission and vision of the school

 • Ability to exercise wise judgment and prudent decision making

• Familiarity with explicit, intensive phonics methodology

• High school diploma or higher

• Experience working in a school setting

Compensation, Benefits and Hiring

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits offered for full-time employees include health benefits, paid vacation, personal days, paid holidays. Children will receive enrollment priority if a parent is a full-time employee at the time of enrollment. All employees will be required to pass background checks.
