Job Description

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer – PV Systems will support the design, layout, and implementation of electrical systems for solar PV installations. This associate-level role involves producing wiring diagrams, performing electrical calculations, and assisting with permitting, construction coordination, and code compliance. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with PV electrical systems and strong drafting and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing electrical systems for commercial and utility-scale PV projects
  • Create or revise single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schedules, and conduit plans
  • Perform basic calculations (voltage drop, conductor sizing, string configuration, etc.)
  • Ensure designs meet NEC, utility, and AHJ requirements
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site teams
  • Support technical documentation for permitting and construction packages
  • Conduct field verifications and support construction phase QA/QC
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation and drawing updates

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in electrical drafting, solar PV design, or construction support
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with electrical design standards
  • Knowledge of NEC, grounding, overcurrent protection, and PV system components
  • Comfortable reading electrical drawings and construction documents
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications
  • Willing to travel to project sites when needed

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • NABCEP PV Associate or Installer (preferred)
  • AutoCAD, PVsyst, or Helioscope training a plus
