Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to design, optimize, and implement data modeling solutions for complex systems, including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience collaborating with technical staff and business stakeholders to design data models that improve system interoperability, optimize performance, and enable strategic decision-making. State Government client facing support experience is highly preferred. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support relational, dimensional, and NoSQL database solutions.
• Collaborate with data architects and technical teams to develop robust data systems and data warehouses.
• Lead working groups and stakeholder meetings to gather data specifications and define data architecture requirements.
• Evaluate existing systems, build "as-is" models, and identify foundational data model issues that impact query performance and data usability.
• Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and optimize query performance where appropriate.
• Support project delivery teams in defining risks, trade-offs, and design decisions for new or rebuilt systems.
• Recommend infrastructure, interface, and architectural options for future system implementations.
• Establish governance frameworks for data modeling standards, tools, and best practices to ensure repeatable, scalable data development across projects.
• Use data modeling and query analysis tools such as Power Designer, DAX Studio, ERWin, ER/Studio, and advanced SQL.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications for efficient, secure, and scalable data solutions.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in data modeling.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field (additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
• Proficiency with data modeling for relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.
• Strong experience with SQL and data modeling/query analysis tools.
• Skilled in designing user-centered data systems to improve interoperability, performance, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings and translate business goals into data modeling requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience establishing data modeling governance practices.
• Familiarity with optimizing large, complex data systems and addressing performance bottlenecks.
• Experience modeling for public sector or government agency systems is a plus.
