Job Description

This position offers a great opportunity to participate in very exciting research on neural development and neurodegeneration, which will lead to publications in the near future. Responsibilities include assisting investigators with experiments, performing research independently and participating day-to-day laboratory management, including managing mouse colonies, ordering lab supplies, and writing animal protocols. Previous lab experience in molecular biology (DNA, RNA, PCR and Western) and R programing is required. Mouse work experience is strongly preferred. We offer great opportunities to learn new techniques in next generation sequencing, stem cell biology, and mitochondrial metabolism. Candidates interested in applying to medical school or graduate school in 1-2 years are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs research with molecular and cell biological techniques including PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, immunostaining, Western-blotting, cell culture, and sequencing data analysis using R;
  • Lab management: managing mouse colonies, ordering supplies and managing mouse and safety protocols.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One to two years laboratory experience preferred.
  • The candidate will have skilled hands, be detail oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, works independently and under supervision, and function as a research team member.

Pay Range

$18.00-$27.00 Hourly

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
