Adjunct, Environmental Science

Job Summary:

The Environmental Science Department at Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach the following undergraduate courses during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Job Description:

Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

Courses: EESC BC3800 Environmental Science Senior Seminar I (Fall) and EESC BC3801 Environmental Science Senior Seminar II (Spring)
 

Responsibilities include co-teaching the Senior Thesis course, EESC BC3800. Instructors will be advising students as they develop their thesis research, to writing in class, and in follow-up work. They will work closely with a team of instructors on the course roll-out and monitor progress of students. They will take turns on presentation and grading, through research, to writing thesis and poster session with opportunities for feedback. Teaching obligation will be for both Fall and Spring. Pay Rate: $13,250 per semester

Exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities are determined by the Chair or Director.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • PhD required. 
  • Must be available on Thursday afternoons before or after class to meet with students and free to set up faculty meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with others.

  • Experience in environmental research a plus.
