Job Description
At WSU Tech, we prioritize hands-on education and training for students in various technical fields to support workforce development in our community. We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team and lead future generations in developing the skills necessary for success in the heavy equipment operation industry.
- Compensation: $32/hr
- Worksite Location: City Center
- Employment Type: CONTRACT or PART-TIME
Overview / Job Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will provide instruction to students seeking training and certification in operating heavy machinery. This role includes developing training programs, conducting both classroom and field training sessions, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment while empowering students with the skills to operate heavy equipment competently and safely.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Manages and Supervises students in all assigned classroom and lab activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Teaches equipment operation courses including excavators, loaders, dozers, and related machines following approved curriculum.
- ensures each course meets instructional standards, includes required curriculum components, and utilizes effective pedagogy.
- Keeps students informed of expectations, assignments, evaluations, and attendance policies
- Develops, revises, and maintains instructional materials to reflect current industry standards.
- Provides timely feedback to students using WSU Tech Systems such as Canvas and Navigates.
- Maintains safety and cleanliness of instructional equipment and lab spaces.
- Preforms other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- Technical Certificate required or Associates Degree preferred.
- Technical training in heavy equipment operation or relevant field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a professional setting required.
- Experience in teaching or training adult learners preferred.
Certifications:
- Current Heavy Equipment Operator certification is preferred.
- Current OSHA 30 or Ability to obtain OSHA 30 within 1 year of hire.
- NCCER, MSHA, or CLD preferred.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation principles and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate equipment operations and instruct students.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage training operations.
- Ability to adapt training methods to address the varied learning styles of students.
- Demonstrated ability to adhear to all sefaty and protocall procedures especially when operating heavy equipment
