Butler Asphalt is a family-owned, full-service construction company located in Dayton, Ohio. We’re seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead a paving crew on commercial, municipal, and ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) projects.
Butler Asphalt is a family-owned, full-service construction company located in Dayton, Ohio. We’re seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead a paving crew on commercial, municipal, and ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and organize asphalt paving crews on various job sites
- Ensure work is performed according to ODOT, local municipality, and commercial specifications
- Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
- Coordinate and execute job layout, including setting grades and slopes
- Maintain accurate daily project documentation for job cost tracking and reporting
- Monitor project schedules and ensure timely, on-budget completion
- Enforce all safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on the job site
- Train and mentor crew members, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and other stakeholders
- Attend site and company meetings as required
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in asphalt paving, preferably on commercial and/or ODOT projects
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or college coursework is a plus
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Experience with Procore, Workday, and Tena software is a plus
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications
- Proficient in calculating material volumes and basic measurements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Computer literacy and the ability to learn construction-related software systems
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in fast-paced environments
