Accounting Specialist

Position Purpose: Under general supervision, the Accounting Specialist compiles and maintains accounting records.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

• Compiles financial information and prepares bank reconciliations.
• Balances accounting journals and ledgers; prepares bank reconciliations.
• Prepares files for electronic transmission.
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Completes monthly outstanding check maintenance.
• Assists with annual budget entries.
• Handles all unclaimed funds for the Firm.
• Assists with special projects.
• Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.
• Additional duties as requested or required.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED required, Associate Degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a general accounting/bookkeeping.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Communicates effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to proficiently use the following computer software programs and possess the following computer related skills: MS Office (high proficiency in Excel), Outlook.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $19.55/hour or more depending on experience
