Job Description
ESSENTIAL TASKS
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Performs quality control inspections on all elements of roadway and storm drainage construction for Private developments to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications, county and DHEC standards.
Inspects construction sites to ensure compliance with sediment and erosion control plans and regulations.
Reviews cost estimates and calculations as required; generated and maintains records and reports of inspection activity.
Inspects surveying tasks associated with road and drainage construction and maintenance.
Uses the department's adherence to regulations software and GIS applications as necessary to support road projects.
Receives and responds to public inquiries, requests for service and complaints associated with areas of responsibility; provides information to residents affected by construction projects; investigates citizen complaints related to new constructions and drainage.
Performs general administrative and clerical work as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, preparing spreadsheets, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.
Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Department of Transportation Asphalt Roadway and Earth Base Technician certification and DHEC Sediment and Erosion Control certification are desirable.
Must be able to obtain Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification within 6 months of hire.
