The Opportunity
Tasks:
- Sets the strategy for analytics research activities for Retail Bank Operations, designed to drive fundamentally sound expense and productivity management, capacity planning, and performance management disciplines.
- Partners with Credit Risk Management, Credit Policy, Finance, Product Line Management and Pricing to understand, evaluate, and modify intent with the aim of mitigating Credit Operations Analytics business risks.
- Oversees a one billion-dollar portfolio for charge off loans for multiple products across USAA – Card, Deposits, Consumer Lending, and Home equity loans.
- Accountable for the analytics supporting profit and loss of five different lines of business across USAA (Retail, Consumer Lending, Real Estate Lending, and Omni Channel).
- Owns the credit loss net charge off budget; accountable for mitigating the loss of the charge off portfolio. Responsible for creating the objectives across multiple product lines and implementing and maintaining a saving strategy that would impact hundreds of millions of dollars in losses to the USAA Consumer Lending portfolio.
- Sponsors, leads, and oversees complex components and projects for a billion-dollar portfolio of charge off losses, and outstanding loans for 5.4 million USAA members.
- Accountable for forecasting, managing collections, and accessing the highest levels of risk within a billion-dollar playbook.
- Responsible for coordination of loss prevention strategies, risks, and reporting with line senior executives on credit risk, liquidity/capital marketing, and risk scenarios that impact bottom line business initiatives.
- Responsible for developing policies, procedures, and controls related to all credit operations related activities and partners with executive leadership within the organization and across the Enterprise to ensure the appropriate credit policies are in place.
- Responsible for identifying gaps and developing analytical strategies to increase efficiencies of operating strategies, policies, procedures, and compliance in fulfillment and servicing of consumer loans. Presents results of analysis to Senior Management along with recommendations for operational analytics to risk management strategies.
- Develops a strategic and proactive approach to improving processes and controls by leveraging the wider Retail Bank Operations teams and other groups within the Federal Savings Bank.
- Stays abreast of industry changes, developments in regulatory requirements, and leading-edge techniques for Retail Bank Operations risk analysis. Proactively develops, delivers, and implements credit policy to support corporate risk and revenue growth objectives.
- Liaises with Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams on legal regulatory considerations that impact Credit Operations Analytics in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Builds and leads high performing teams of Retail Bank Operations leaders and professionals through recruitment, training, coaching, performance management and related managerial activities.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years in banking, credit union operations, or experience in a highly regulated financial services industry with knowledge of bank products, services, systems, operational policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance issues, to include 7 years of progressive experience within credit risk, lending analytics, risk oversight, audit, or compliance functions within a financial services industry.
- 8 years of Operations Research Engineering, or other quantitative field, to include default activities, loss forecast activities, and stress test modeling.
- 6 years of direct people leadership responsibilities developing high performing teams.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable banking regulations and laws; to include a focus on risk management/compliance.
- Knowledge of R/Python, SAS, Machine Learning, and Data Visualization tools such as Cognos and Tableau.
- Experience with developing analytical and business strategy for default segmentation, dialer, and contact strategies as well as experience in credit loss forecasting and operational planning and forecasting.
- Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to include: TILA/REG Z, REG E, REG F, REG B, REG CC, UDAAP/UDAP, FCRA, BSA/AML, SCRA/MLA, OCC Heightened Standards and applicable guidelines on data privacy and management.
- Proven ability to communicate to and influence leaders across multiple disciplines and executive levels.
- Experience leading across complex organizational lines in a matrix structure.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate analysis to a non-technical audience.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
