Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic entry-level geologist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior geologists and other team members. This role requires both field and office work, involving data interpretation and technical reporting, supervision of exploration and development drilling operations including all drilling and well logging contractors, and surveyors, dirtwork & drill pad preparation, drill hole location planning, drill cuttings descriptions, geophysical well log interpretation, mineralization mapping, resource estimation, casing and well completion planning, as well as project cost and drilling supplies management, safety management, compliance maintenance of applicable Federal and State rules and regulations, and compliance maintenance of leases and landowner agreements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- The selected candidate will perform a range of tasks, requiring utilization of scientific or geologic analytical techniques and task level budget and schedule management
- Fieldwork will include on-site training and oversight by staff working either on a team or independently depending on the complexity of the task
- Assisting in the preparation of all plans and reports will be under the direction and guidance of a Staff-Level or Senior Geologist/Engineer/Scientist
- Travel and field work required
- Must be willing to relocate to Project Locations as needed
- Maintain geological, geochemical, and geophysical databases, ensuring they are kept up to date.
- Maintain high levels of communication with position supervisor, particularly with reference to key issues that affect workflow, production, or the timing and implementation of allocated programs.
