We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Commissioning (Cx) Superintendent to join our growing construction enterprise. As an Electrical Cx Superintendent, you will be responsible for all aspects of electrical commissioning for projects. This includes first-time energization, functional testing, schedule management, etc. You will play a vital role in ensuring equipment is energized safely and in the appropriate manner to maintain the sequence required to effectively manage the schedule.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Organize and lead field execution of commissioning such as switching and breaker opening/closing, functional testing, system integration testing, etc.
  • Develop electrical commissioning and testing procedures, including first-time energization procedures.
  • Validate installation and pre-functional checklists for gear (breakers, switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, etc.).
  • Schedule, lead, and troubleshoot all functional performance testing (FPT) for electrical systems.
  • Ensure test equipment is available, calibrated, and properly used.
  • Manage third-party vendors for specialized equipment commissioning.
  • Interface with the Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Owner’s reps during witness testing.
  • Report on progress to the project Commissioning Manager or Cx agent.
  • Direct Cx Techs and trade partners in field execution.
  • Coordinate system walkdowns, equipment startups, and functional testing.
  • Support Cx Manager in reporting and metrics.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of electrical construction experience.
  • Previous experience with energization and switching of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience with Lock-Out/Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Understanding of one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to review equipment submittals.
  • NFPA 70E Trained.
  • OSHA 30.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds, unassisted, as required.
  • Ability to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and other safe work platforms and area when necessary.
  • Able to work a 40-hour work week, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required.
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow depending on the job location.
  • Ability to walk or stand for an extended period of time.
