Your Impact 

  • Accountable for cash register operation and handling large amounts of cash. Responsible for maintaining all charges in the appropriate cost center. Provides high quality customer service, including efficient sales practice and proper food sanitation.

Job Specific Duties 

  • Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors. Ensuring each guest feels comfortable and welcomed into the café.
  • Assist with food service tasks, including serving food and beverages.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the cashier station and dining areas.
  • Ensure proper storage of food items, following First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Assist in receiving and unpacking deliveries, verifying items against invoices.
  • Stock the café with necessary supplies and food items.
  • Dispose of trash and waste in designated areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials.
  • Identify and utilize cleaning chemicals following directions recommended by the manufacturer and per Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Follow all safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete temperature and safety logs as they relate to the cashier position, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Follow food and physical safety guidelines as outlined in the company's policies, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies, including the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Joint Commission, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Adhere to the department's infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Follow the facility's protocols for the hazardous materials and waste program, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the retail manager or supervisor.

What you will need 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out directions given in written or oral form. Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and compute ratios and percents.
  • Must have a valid California Food Handlers Certification or will obtain within seven days of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move objects, up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach frequently.
  • Manual dexterity to handle cash and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to work in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.
