Job Title: Exercise Sciences - Research Adjunct

Position Start Date: September 1, 2025
Required Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
- Experience conducting laboratory research in any of the following areas: histology, microscopy, animal handling, or cell culture
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols
- Comfortable working with animal models in a research setting
- Demonstrated interest in translational science and preparation for a PhD program
Duties/Expectations: The Research Assistant will support a research program investigating skeletal muscle regeneration following volumetric muscle loss injury. This position involves hands-on responsibilities in a translational rodent model and laboratory assays.
Duties include:
- Assist with surgical procedures and post-operative animal care
- Prepare tissue for cryosectioning and perform istological/immunofluorescent staining
- Conduct microscopy and image analysis (e.g., fiber size, satellite cells, GFP+ donor integration)
- Support in vivo muscle function testing (torque, gait analysis)
- Maintain and analyze muscle cell cultures
- Record and manage research data; contribute to figure generation and manuscript drafting
- Participate in weekly lab meetings, inventory, and safety compliance
