We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Technician to join our team of experienced professionals.
Position Summary
Harvey W. Hottel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven HVAC Technician to join our growing Commercial Service Team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of commercial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, and split systems. Experience with Distech Controls is a plus. This position is best suited for a technician with strong leadership qualities, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to delivering top-tier service and customer satisfaction. Candidates should also possess a valid journeyman license (master license preferred) and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and technical expertise in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of commercial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, cooling towers, split systems, and more.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system malfunctions efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with safety and code standards.
- Document all work performed, including time, materials used, and system conditions, with clear and accurate service reports.
- Communicate professionally with commercial clients and internal office staff regarding service needs, findings, and recommendations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, tools, and service vehicle.
- Adhere to all company policies and industry-standard safety protocols.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond promptly to after-hours service calls.
- Attend company-provided training sessions to remain up-to-date on the latest HVAC technologies and practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support team and operational goals.
Qualifications & Work Environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical degree or HVAC certification (preferred).
- Valid journeyman license or 5+ years of verifiable commercial HVAC field experience.
- Strong technical background with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, and split systems.
- Master HVAC license or willingness to obtain (preferred).
- EPA certification for refrigerant handling (required).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls efficiently.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and a strong work ethic with a focus on safety.
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied environmental conditions.
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor work at various commercial job sites.
- May involve exposure to heights, confined spaces, and loud environments.
- Use of ladders, lifts, and safety equipment is required.
- PPE must be worn on all active job sites.
