Job Summary

The Director of Food Services leads and manages all aspects of the Food and Nutrition Services Department, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality meals in a clean, safe, and patient-centered environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, local, federal, and CMS regulations, while upholding hospital policies, safety standards, and department performance goals. The Director plans and oversees menu development, food preparation, sanitation, budgeting, staffing, and communication across departments—playing a key role in both clinical nutrition and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all food service operations including planning, procurement, preparation, and service.

  • Ensure compliance with nutritional, sanitation, safety, and regulatory standards (State, Local, Federal, and CMS).

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards.

  • Plan regular and therapeutic menus for patients, as well as meals for staff and special events.

  • Supervise dietary staff including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.

  • Maintain effective communication with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and vendors.

  • Monitor inventory, manage food procurement, and control budget resources.

  • Lead departmental quality assurance initiatives and safety programs.

  • Support integration of clinical and administrative nutrition functions to ensure excellent care.

  • Fill in operationally as needed to meet departmental goals.
