GENERAL SUMMARY: Delivers intraoperative care to the surgical patient, primarily in the scrub role. Serves the patients from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Scrubs surgical cases in own specialty independently and in other areas with minimal direction.- Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning and seeks appropriate resource when necessary.- Assists in the circulating role under the direct supervision of R.N.- Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.R. team members.- Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department/hospital policy.- Communicates effectively with patient, staff and physicians.

High school diploma or GED required.

  • Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program or Certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or enrollment in a certified Nursing Program to become an RN or 15+ years of experience.
  • 2 years of experience required.
  • Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Proof of completion of Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English language
