ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN
From fabrication to final assembly, Stepp is a full manufacturing facility for asphalt maintenance equipment. Our equipment heats, stores, transports, and applies all types of asphaltic material for maintaining the roadways.
Our vision is to be a world class manufacturer and the leading supplier of asphalt maintenance equipment.
We are looking for the right individual to join our team as an Electrical Assembly Technician with an emphasis on assembling and installing all electrical components of our equipment, such as wire harnesses and control boxes, according to documented prints and wire schematics.
2nd Shift: 4x10 Monday - Thursday from 3pm - 130am with overtime available. Some flexibility available upon prior agreement with manager.
Starting wage range $16-$24 hourly, plus $3 shift differential for 2nd shift
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build wire harnesses by cutting wires to specified length according to print, and installing and soldering terminals per assembly drawings.
- Build high and low voltage electrical control panels using wires, relays, and other control devices.
- Install and connect wire harnesses on truck bodies and truck mounted equipment.
- Assist the Service Department with trouble shooting electrical problems when needed.
- Perform some light-duty mechanical assembly operations as needed.
- Identify and correctly use various hand tools including but not limited to:
- Standard ratchets and wrenches, pipe and crescent wrenches, drills and impact drivers, pliers, vise-grips, and cutters
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings, BOMs, wiring schematics, and associated procedures.
- Self-inspect and evaluate the quality of products before forwarding to the next step in the fulfillment process.
- Other duties deemed necessary to support the Company's business operations, (ie. Cross-trainable)
- Perform work at or above pre-established performance objectives
- Keep the work area clean and organized; follow 5S guidelines.
- Follow work direction and training provided by higher level personnel
- Actively participate in the Company’s continuous improvement efforts by identifying and communicating basic process improvements.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to frequently changing priorities/tasks
- Proven reliability -- attendance and punctuality!
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Gripping with hands/fingers, reaching, fine dexterity and motor skills for efficient and regular use of basic hand and power tools and assembly of small electrical component parts.
- Operation of equipment and machinery such as overhead cranes and/or forklifts (training provided).
- Remaining alert to surroundings, specifically when operating equipment and/or machinery.
- 50 lbs max lifting requirement (cranes available for use for any lifting that exceeds 50 lbs).
- Must be able to reason and partake in critical decision making.
- Attention to detail and concentration towards task at hand.
- Alternate between sitting and standing on a daily basis.

Minimum Education and Experience Preferred:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Knowledge and an understanding of 12 volt electrical systems
- Some knowledge of 120 and 240 volt electrical systems preferred, but not required
