The primary function of the Food Service Aide position involves delivering great customer service to all patient, customers, and staff accurately and expeditiously in all areas of Food & Nutrition Services. This position is expected to have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members and team members with a strong attention to detail. The position must also have the ability to follow instructions for meal orders, nutritional needs, and recipes to ensure patients and all customers receive appropriate food.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with the Department's Standards of Infection Control
  • Displays excellence in customer service
  • Assists in maintaining the Department's equipment by reporting any piece of equipment that is not operating properly to the supervisors
  • Actively participates in the Department Sanitation Program by maintaining work area/equipment in a clean and sanitary manner throughout the shifts, cleaning assignments are completed before the end of the shift
  • Keeps waste and overproduction to a minimum through the appropriate use of production standards
  • All food is correctly stored including covered, labeled, dated, and stored in correction location
  • Foods/supplies are transported in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Equipment temperatures, refrigeration and dish machine are taken as instructed and logged and any deviations are reported to a supervisor and corrective action are noted on log
  • Foods are portioned correctly and served in an eye appealing manner
  • Workstation is maintained in a safe and sanitary manner, sweeping, mopping, dish ans pot washing
  • Workstation is prepared for meals to ensure on time and so trayline/customers do not have to stop/wait during meal service.
  • Workstation is restocked and cleaned appropriately at the end of meal service (i.e. silverware bagged, appropriate condiments available)
  • Follows appropriate chain of communication and consults with supervisor on matters of uncertainty
  • Informs supervisor immediately of issues that may result in an inability to meet standards
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant service industry experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some healthcare food service experience
  • Knowledge of an electronic tray ticket publishing system (i.e., CBORD, Computriton etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift a maximum of 50lbs
  • Must be able to bend and squat repetitive action
  • Reach above shoulder level repetitive action
  • To use right hand and left hand for repetitive action
  • To perform simple grasping
  • Able to push and pull 25lbs of force maximum
  • Employee must use right foot and use left foot for repetitive action

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some potential for exposure to blood and body fluids
