Job Description

Summary:

The Vice President of Product Management will champion the strategy, execution and revenue for Aspen’s revenue growth for their multiple offerings and content products, helping achieve and maintain high levels of engagement and business growth. Reporting directly to the GM, you will build, lead, manage and mentor your team. You will translate the business strategy and vision from our leadership team into execution-ready product strategy for your team; will collaborate with leaders across the organization and external partners to ensure we are achieving our vision and goals cohesively, effectively, and in a way that creates confidence in our ability to deliver high quality and engagement product experiences. You will serve as a key leader driving our product roadmap and delivery and will ensure the ongoing health and quality of our content and platform products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Passion for driving Aspen’s product offerings and ability to persuade others to share this vision, collaborate and execute
  • 10+ years of experience in product management-related roles, preferably within a PBM or similar experience
  • 7+ years of developing, cultivating and leading strong, high-performing teams in an agile environment
  • Flexibility and organizational change management experience
  • The ability to work in a cross-functional team to prioritize product offerings and drive outcomes without having direct authority
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to present materials to the highest levels in the organization and serve as one of the recognized subject matter experts on the team
  • Demonstrate business acumen and the ability to interact with senior leaders, including developing, presenting and gaining approval on any business cases and funding requests needed to further drive the execution of the organization’s goals and vision.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities and evaluate results against established objectives
  • Actively anticipates, identifies and manages risks within position scope and at the company
  • Expert consensus builder who drives change across initiatives within and outside direct accountability and evaluates solutions to the most complex business challenges
  • Partner with the Sales Team and demonstrates deep customer expertise; collaborates with appropriate internal teams to drive product development and new services.
  • Provide client feedback to the Executive Team for the exploration of new products/solutions and continuous quality improvement of current offerings.
  • Develop strategic partnerships, relationships and alliances.
  • Ensure execution of targets and goals.
  • Develop and maintain a budget.
  • Understand the client’s business including economic levers, industry, organization, customer needs, while driving the development of an overall strategy for key clients.
  • Partner with the Sales Team and lead strategic discussions with key, high revenue producing clients
  • Partner with the Sales Team to develop and deliver strategic client presentations or recommendations.
  • Provide expertise and input into the product and services planning processes as needed.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities        

Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

                                   

Client Responsibilities

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written).  One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

BA/BS Degree or equivalent; plus 15 years’ related experience; 15 years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience); and 12 years supervisory experience; Supervisory experience may be substituted with 12 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader at the Vice President level or above that must be  completed within 12 months in new position. 

Computer Skills

 Proficient with Microsoft Suite including PowerPoint and Excel; CRM and Project Management Software Experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Continuous Quality Improvement Certification preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Experience navigating Medicaid, Medicare Part D and Star Ratings.
  • Experience leading or conducting population health outcomes studies.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and reasonable meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required.  Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business.  Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

This position requires domestic travel of up to 15% of the time.
