Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Provides routine facility coverage to ensure member safety and customer satisfaction during the times when other directors are not typically in the building. Serves as the main contact for employees and members in situations requiring assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone
daily, contributing to member retention. This includes greeting members by name, scanning
membership cards, registering members for programs, membership sales, and tours.
Accurately input new member sales, renewals and programs into the computer.
Physically monitor the entire building, specifically the gym, locker rooms and lobby, for safety and
potentially problematic issues. The pattern of monitoring should be varied.
Appropriately address any issues which may arise in the branch.
Report all accidents and incidents involving self, participants, guests or other employees.
Familiar with and able to implement emergency procedures.
Maintain a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions.
Answer phones promptly, within 3 rings, in a courteous and friendly manner. Answer member
questions and issues in a positive manner, meeting their needs whenever possible.
Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
Ensure cleanliness of facility as a member of Clean Team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
HS Diploma/GED.
Data Entry and Basic knowledge of computers.
Current CPR/AED, and First Aid Certifications.
Previous work experience (1-3 years) in customer service, sales or related experience.
Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.
