Job Description
What we are looking for:
The Supervisor, Warehouse is responsible for leading the materials handling & warehouse teams to provide support for Inventory and Equipment logistics across the Secant facilities. This position is responsible for the warehouse function consisting of shipping, receiving and transportation activities.
What you will do:
- Leads the warehouse department in the planning of warehouse personnel’s daily/weekly activities, proper documentation, efficient scheduling of material transfers, material handling and shipment of products to meet customer needs.
- Provides backup support for execution of all Shipping, Receiving, and Transportation activities.
- Monitors the day-to-day quality of the department to minimize errors.
- Responsible to ensure Warehouse environments all meet Safety requirements, team members meet all safety requirements and is in an audit ready condition.
- Responsible to complete Gemba Walks and proactively manage safety risk that could pose a hazard to the warehouse personnel (i.e. Aisle inspections, Sprinkler inspections, emergency exits, employee behavior, etc.)
- Ensures all procedures and requirements are enforced with Secant Personnel and Transportation contractors utilizing the warehouse areas.
- Identifies process problems and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Works with Operations to optimize flow of materials through the three warehouses and with quality to ensure proper receiving and shipping of all products.
- Conducts training and ensures team members are trained on equipment and procedures; identifies training requirements and initiates development opportunities.
- Interacts with Procurement to ensure the coordination of delivery of raw materials to meet the needs of the manufacturing operations.
- Maintains, monitors, and ensures accuracy of inventory in the warehouse bins by executing cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Coordinates shipping and receiving activities between account managers, operations, and quality to facilitate on-time customer shipments.
- Reviews monthly Shipping invoices and trends and provides recommendations for cost improvements.
- Schedules raw material transfers and freight carrier pick-ups to ensure timely movement of products to meet customer and manufacturing lead times.
- Utilizes ERP for materials management review and customer shipping activities and suggests improvements as necessary.
- Collects data for on-time deliveries, inventory variances/counts, assists in the development of reports, and evaluates production metrics as needed.
- Identifies staffing requirements, participates in the selection and hiring process; interviews applicants and makes hire recommendations.
- Provides coaching, feedback, and guidance to team members on a continual basis and takes an active role in developing, monitoring, and updating a career plan for advancement.
- Completes performance appraisals and reviews with employees; recommends salary increases to management and HR.
- Provides input to the department budgeting process and monitors and controls expenses through the year to meet budget requirements.
Who you are:
- High School diploma, or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation physical and receive a valid medical DOT card.
- Minimum 3 years’ related experience supervising a team of 3 or more members
- Proven leader that motivates and develops the team.
- Strong verbal communications skills and moderate written skills.
- Moderate MS-office product skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to analytically solve problems and provide clear direction to others for problem resolution.
- Detail oriented.
- Familiarity with computer software to enter and track inventory transactions.
- Ability to properly load equipment, products, and material on the truck and off of the truck in a manner that causes no damage to the items and then delivers them to the assigned location.
- Ability to drive a fork truck, aisle stacker, powered truck, and hand truck.
- Basic math skills such as measuring, adding, subtracting, and multiplying.
