Itron is hiring a Director of Global Supplier Quality. This position is responsible for providing leadership across Itron's supplier base to drive world-class quality products and services across three business units. This role leads the Supply Quality Team in executing strategies that establish and maintain a robust, end-to-end quality system. This role ensures suppliers comply with relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enable NPI and transfer project supplier requirements including regulatory requirements
Build global supplier quality management processes to include a global Supplier Quality Manual
Lead Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) supplier qualification and ensure products requirements to meet customer requirements
Transform global Supplier Audit processes to evaluate, qualify, and monitor critical suppliers across all business units
Establish strategies that lead to sustainable improvements in the defined quality metrics and ensure an initiative-taking approach to prevent quality issues within the global supply base
Lead and ensure appropriate execution of the supplier assessment and qualification process
Establish agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier product quality such as cost of poor quality, defective parts per volume, non-conformances.
Partner with Procurement and Supply Planning to define and implement a strategic program that identifies, develops, and monitors underperforming suppliers
Continue to lead, grow and mentor the Supplier Quality organization, to include engaging in long-term organizational design, team building and hiring, retention and continuous training
Work cross-functionally with people at all levels and all cultures globally
May be visit Customer with Sales, proactively and in crisis periods
Challenge & coordinate Quality Customer Oriented Problem Solving using 8D and Corrective Action and Preventive Action methodology - Manage major Customer claims through these processes
Communication (interface between Customer & other functions), Customer KPI & Customer voice
May participate in tender requirements reviews to support Product Management on quality aspects
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical/scientific discipline
At least 12 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Supplier Quality dealing with supplier quality issues within a regulated industry
At least eight years of experience building and leading teams which includes more than 5 years managing people leaders
Experience with Software Vendors and Suppliers
Advanced project management skills and the ability to influence change across a global operation
Thorough knowledge of and experience with ISO/TS standards
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems / root cause analysis (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, CAPA, 8D
Thorough knowledge of Risk Management Principles
Thorough knowledge of built in Quality tools including but not limited to FMEA, Reliability, and DoE
Experience leading global teams
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Certified Quality Manager, ISO Auditor, 6 Sigma Green or Black Belt
Prefer experience with SMT processes/manufacturing
Knowledge of quality/manufacturing processes especially with product categories such as sheet molded composite, stamping, casting, machining, injection molding, electronics, and related assembly methods
