JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Electrical Designer. will be responsible for the electrical design of passenger boarding bridges and fixed walkway systems. This individual will support engineers by preparing drawings and layouts using computer-aided drafting software (CAD), with a focus on industrial electrical design. The Sr. Electrical Designer will also create new and modified components and Bill of Materials (BOM) in accordance with Oshkosh standards, and work closely with manufacturing and field teams to ensure effective implementation.

YOUR IMPACT:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform high quality electrical design work through CAD systems (AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical) to create 2D layouts and drawings.

  • Design electrical systems to support power (480V, 3-phase), low-voltage, and communication cabling (Cat6, Cat6A) from the terminal to the passenger boarding bridge.

  • Account for 120V and 270V lighting/power circuits and other low-voltage power needs.

  • Provide electrical design support for semi-custom configurations across unique projects (no two systems are the same).

  • Support field install inquiries and interface with customers and construction engineering teams.

  • Create drawings following Jetway electrical CAD standards and industry best practices; update existing drawings and mentor lower-level designers.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with suppliers to obtain technical data; ensure proper allocation of space and integration with mechanical designs.

  • Utilize PLM and ERP systems to create and revise high complexity part numbers and BOMs following department procedures.

  • Prepare and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and support peers with ECRs/ECOs.

  • Support shop personnel during build processes and provide design intent clarity; document and organize build issues.

  • Consider integration needs for external systems such as PCA (preconditioned air), jet power, and auto-docking technology.

  • Ensure awareness of relevant building codes and NFPA standards; maintain compliance throughout design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience in design.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent* with eight (8) years of experience in electrical design.

  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Background in industrial applications involving 480V power, VFDs, motors, and factory/shop environments.

  • Understanding of mechanical design integration (sheet metal, weldments).

  • Experience designing semi-custom solutions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.

  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring capabilities within a design environment.

  • Knowledge of building and electrical codes including NFPA standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.

Pay Range:

$72,200.00 - $116,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
