Purpose  

Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees from other departments, and teammates. Ability to carry out and understand assignments, and/or convey or exchange routing information.  Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, company policies/procedures, or other program-related information.  Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports. Ability to work in a highly technical and fast-paced detailed design and construction program environment. Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.  Ability to adapt to various job assignments that stretch the boundaries of the job description due to the dynamic nature of Government Shipbuilding.  The following section includes but is not limited to functions within this job description.

Functions

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain or develop schedules and tracking matrices to support Project Engineering, Field Engineering, Change Management, Operations, or other engineering group activities and objectives,
  • Direct and coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables are submitted in accordance with the intended requirements of all tasks,
  • Provide metrics and tracking support on design deliverable submissions,
  • Provide detailed plans of action and deficiency reports for deliverable reviews to support Project Engineering, Field Engineering, Change Management, or other
    engineering groups’ objectives and schedules.
  • Work within various databases (including Gov’t systems (e.g., TSM)), SharePoint, Adept, and other Microsoft suite products to provide current and accurate status and actionable item information to management,
  • Oversee daily team actionable item completion and support project leads with status.
  • Support tracking CAR, Trial Card, Change Documentation, and other program support response and resolution status,
  • Perform other duties as instructed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Data and Information Analyst 2 will have mentorship responsibilities over junior employees. 

Reporting Relationship

This position will report to Engineering or Operations Supervisors.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-7 years of industry experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CONFIDENTIAL security clearance.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience.
  • Read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from mid-level management and engineering peers.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, display attention to detail, and function as a team player.

Desired

  • Prior experience with Government Shipbuilding programs is desired.  I must have intermediate experience with Excel and strong communication skills. Prior experience with project planning efforts, Microsoft Project, and EVMS are a plus.
  • This successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual that will be responsible for supporting the OPC Engineering metrics and reports for the department.                                                             

Educational Requirements

  • Data and Information Analyst 2 must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  An associate degree in business or another administration field is preferred.  In addition, 3-7 years’ experience.

Working Conditions

This position is considered both office and field work which is characterized as follows.

  • Assigned office space for daily work but is anticipated to conduct ship visits when needed/required.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
  • When in the field, working in confined spaces may occur as well as working in high
    areas.
