The Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) has an exciting opportunity for a Recruitment and Retention Specialist with the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center (COJC) in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Basic Purpose
The Recruitment and Retention Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to attract, screen, and hire qualified candidates to meet the staffing needs of the agency. This position plays a key role in supporting workforce planning efforts by managing the full recruitment cycle, building talent pipelines, and fostering relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the agency attracts top talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Focuses on retention at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center by participating in employee round tables, maintaining visibility across all shifts. Serves on the COJC employee council.
- Performs agency recruiting activities; prepares recruiting announcements or other information concerning job vacancies; evaluates application forms; provides job counseling to prospective employees; administers minority recruitment and outreach programs.
- Reviews applications and resumes for qualifications and alignment with job requirements. Conducts post-onboarding engagement surveys.
Schedule & Compensation
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Annual Salary: (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in human resources management; or a master's degree in human resources, industrial/organizational psychology, public administration, sociology, psychology, or a closely related field and one year of professional experience in human resources management.
Experience: Professional human resources experience should include at least one of the following areas: job analysis, position classification, compensation and benefits administration, civil rights administration, or recruitment.
Note: Experience that was incidental to the position or not a primary responsibility will not be accepted as qualifying. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Special Requirements
- Applicants may be required to travel as part of their job responsibilities and possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license for operating state-owned vehicles.
- Must be able to pass OSBI and FBI background check.
- Some positions in this job family are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
