Job Description
Are you an accounting professional with 2 years of experience looking for an opportunity to join a growing company? The Weitz Company is hiring a Tax Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, IA. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring that tax filings and related items are prepared accurately, on time, and meet compliance requirements.

What You'll Do:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly filings, including sales/use tax, estimated income taxes and various government census reporting
- Ensure compliance with all state requirements, including income, sales/use and property tax filings
- Prepare and maintain the fixed asset module and book/tax differences
- Prepare and maintain the deferred tax schedule and related tax adjustments
- Correspond with various tax authorities regarding assessments, tax notices, audit requests, and other related issues
- Assist with preparation of tax returns
What We're Looking For:
Experience:
2+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Skills:
Excellent independent judgement and problem solving/analytical abilities
Organized with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and flexibility to pivot as needed
Excellent communication skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Reliable
Technology:
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proficient in 10-key
Ability to learn specific accounting job-related software upon hire
