Job objective: The Senior Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a multidiscipline team of electrical engineers in designing power electronics, digital circuits, and printed circuit boards for high-power microwave systems and advanced electronics applications. Reporting to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible owning both technical execution and team leadership, dividing time equally between individual contributor tasks and people management responsibilities.
Duties:
- Lead technology development of digital, mixed signal, and power electronics for highly integrated, state-of-the-art RF systems while driving the electronics product roadmap.
- Collaborate with RF, Mechanical, and Systems engineering teams to integrate electrical designs into overall system architecture and ensure compatibility with project requirements while pushing the limits of system performance and capabilities.
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing technical guidance, feedback, and support in the design, testing, and integration of electronic hardware, as well as performing all duties expected of a people manager at Epirus.
- Assign Electrical Engineers to projects and reconcile resource conflicts, as well as identify new resource requirements and align and respond to team growth needs as the business scales.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize EE, PCB, and Power Electronics design processes, enhance product performance, and reduce development cycle times.
- Design embedded electronics from concept to production, including architecture trade studies, component selection, schematic and PCB design, prototype bring-up, and system integration.
- Troubleshoot issues that span across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries, using a variety of electrical laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, signal analyzer, etc).
- Coordinate with external vendors and partners as needed to support hardware development and testing activities, including driving supplier roadmaps where possible to enable future product success.
- Lead cross-functional design reviews, providing technical insights and recommendations to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
- Oversee full PCB design cycle including architecture, design, fabrication, assembly, test, and sustainment.
- Lead electrical simulation efforts to continuously improve system performance, predictability, and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field and 6+ years of experience in Electrical engineering, with demonstrated expertise in digital and mixed signal circuit design, PCB design, and power electronics OR Master’s degree and 4+ years’ related experience.
- Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, electromagnetic theory, and power electronics engineering concepts.
- Experience in design for signal integrity/power integrity
- Proficient with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tool
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and driving project execution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for hardware design, testing, and validation.
- Familiarity with measurement techniques and test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience with electrical/power electronics design in aerospace, defense, or telecommunications applications.
- Proven leadership or management experience leading highly technical teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electronics design issues and propose effective solutions.
- Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities and stay current with advancements in electrical and power electronics technology and engineering methodologies.
