Job Description
Purpose
The Pharmacist assures the safe, appropriate and legal dispensing of pharmaceuticals, monitors drug therapy, maintains inventory and provides consultation services to medical providers, dental providers, clinic staff and patients in accordance with the State of Washington Department of Licensing and professional scope of practice. The Pharmacist manages prescription refill authorizations under the Pharmacist Refill Authorization Protocol in accordance with the Washington State Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreement.

Compensation:
- The target wage range for the position is $56.67 per hour to $78.61 per hour
- Final offers are individually based on various factors, including skill set, years of experience, location, qualifications, work schedule and other job-related reasons.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervision
- Responsible for handling, reporting and assisting in the resolution of patient complaints, billing issues and other administrative issues associated with the pharmacy.
- May be responsible for day-to-day operational activities and supervision of support staff for the assigned pharmacy location.
- Provide supervision of/or training for students who are assigned to Neighborcare Health as part of their professional education.
- Assists the Pharmacy Supervisor in implementation of systems and workflows.
Maintains Legal Standards
- Ensures pharmacy complies with all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy in accordance with Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.
Inventory Management
- Assures pharmacy inventory is adequately stocked.
- Ensures payment processing and proper recording of financial records/transactions are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assures inventory and dispensing practices are in compliance with HRSA 340B regulations.
- Maintains procedures and records for quality assurance, formulary compliance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs and devices.
- Conducts annual inventory of all medications in stock in the pharmacy.
Clinical Practice
- Consults with Neighborcare providers to assure optimal therapeutic and cost-effective delivery of pharmaceutical services.
- Uses professional judgment to make decisions regarding drug product selection and dosage adjustments.
- Provides drug therapy information to patients, including, but not limited to treatment purpose and goal, correct use, dosage, storage, side effects and drug interactions.
- Participates in Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements approved within Neighborcare.
- Provides technical expertise for Neighborcare teams regarding on site pharmacy services.
- Performs other tasks assigned by Pharmacy Supervisor, Pharmacy Manager or Director of Clinical Operations.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Active Pharmacist license with the State of Washington.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in an out-patient setting preferably in a community health care environment.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of and skill in pharmacy practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and proficient in the used of personal computers with the ability to learn and use role-specific software programs.
- Knowledge of and basic understanding of various insurance programs and DSHS.
- Ability to meet and comply with HIPPA/Confidentiality policies and procedures and ability to responsibly handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to be detailed oriented and multi-task.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of various racial, educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to be organized, problem solve and follow through.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks as scheduled.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English, understanding of basic math.
