Supports the clinical practice of education by formulating, determining and effectuating orientation and staff development policies and programs that facilitate professional practice and shared governance. Develops performance improvement activities to improve critical thinking skills, leading to enhanced practice skills resulting in improving patient outcomes. Formulates quality improvement and quality assurance activities by integrating evidence based practices into policies and procedural guidelines; effectuating the multidisciplinary care management of clinical associates; and assisting in the development, data collection and documentation for clinical applications and research. The manager of clinical education serves as a nurse expert in the delivery of comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families. As the subject matter expert, the manager will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the trauma program, and the pathways to excellence program as well as staff development, education and competencies. The manager of clinical education is responsible for establishing and maintaining online education/competency programs for all clinical associates. The manager is responsible for functioning as the American Heart Association or Heart Code Complete site coordinator, managing the delivery of education, certification and training in clinical education, managing clinical implementation of the pathways to excellence program and managing the trauma coordinator to successfully obtain recertification in the trauma program.

Clinical Education & Nurse Residency Program Manager
Overview:
Leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of orientation and professional development programs for Nursing Associates, Nurse Residents, and Clinical Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Serves as a liaison between clinical leadership, human resources, and academic institutions to ensure high-quality onboarding and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Orientation & Onboarding
Manages Nursing Associate and CNA orientation programs, including material preparation, presenter coordination, and ongoing evaluation.
Conducts qualitative and quantitative assessments of orientation effectiveness and implements improvements based on feedback.
Coordinates Traveler orientation in collaboration with HR and clinical leaders.
Nurse Residency Program
Oversees all aspects of the Nurse Residency and Preceptor Program, including scheduling, presenter coordination, and evaluation.
Partners with nursing schools to enhance clinical learning experiences.
Conducts regular check-ins with Residents and Preceptors, addressing needs and supporting success.
Clinical Needs Assessment
Conducts annual clinical needs assessments and develops actionable plans with timelines and educational offerings.
Gains leadership approval and executes the plan to address staff development needs.
Student & Instructor Engagement
Orients nursing students and instructors each semester and provides refresher training as needed.
Maintains visibility and support for students and instructors throughout clinical rotations.
Staff Rounding & Communication
Rounds weekly in clinical areas to identify educational needs and practice gaps.
Reports findings and recommendations to nursing leadership bi-monthly.
Maintains regular communication with Clinical Leaders to align on staff development priorities.
Leadership & Reporting
Reports to the Care-Site CNO and System Director of Professional Practice and Nursing Research.
Manages the Pathways to Excellence program and oversees trauma coordinator compliance.
Prioritizes and adjusts projects based on leadership input and meets all established deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
- BSN degree from an accredited program or ASN with successful completion of BSN within 5 years of hire.
- Current State of Montana Registered Nurse License
- BLS upon hire
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- PALS within 12 months of hire
- Three or more years of experience in education and/or demonstrated relevant education and clinical expertise in providing education to adult learners.
Preferred
- 5 years clinical nursing experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Products

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
