Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing individualized therapeutic interventions for adults with developmental disabilities in a day habilitation setting. The OT promotes skill development in areas such as self-care, fine motor coordination, sensory processing, and adaptive functioning to support participants' independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans (ISPs) in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services focused on habilitation, including ADLs, sensory integration, and mobility skills.
- Collaborate with staff to integrate OT goals into daily programming.
- Educate and train staff, families, and caregivers on therapeutic interventions and adaptive strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and billing requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with MassHealth and other regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and registered Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Work Environment:
- Day habilitation center; may require occasional lifting, transferring, and supporting individuals with mobility needs.
