The Birthing Suite Manager will provide leadership and supervision over the assigned area, ensuring that specific tasks are delegated, detailed instructions are given, and both medium and short-term priorities are clearly established. This leader is responsible for managing human, financial, and technical resources to ensure the department meets its established goals. Additionally, they will operate within existing systems while actively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

Population-Specific Care

The Birthing Suite Manager will deliver patient care that is tailored to the patient's age, physical ability, and intellectual development. This includes demonstrating proficiency in assessment, treatment, and adapting care to meet the needs of various patient populations, including but not limited to:

  • Neonatal
  • Pediatric/Adolescent
  • Geriatric
  • Adult

  • Optimizes performance through staff delegation and prioritization.
  • Provides regular direction, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Sets clear goals and objectives for direct reports, conducting evaluations as needed.
  • Maintains physical and emotional availability for effective management.
  • Staff Development
  • Assesses and develops staff, aligning strengths with department needs.
  • Provides constructive feedback and clear expectations for performance.
  • Arranges growth opportunities, training, and assignments for employee development.
  • Participates in succession planning and talent development discussions.
  • Culture of Safety
  • Ensures a safe environment, free from recognized hazards.
  • Supports open, non-punitive communication regarding safety concerns.
  • Encourages and facilitates reporting of safety issues by staff and non-staff members.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develops and manages the annual budget, considering trends, internal/external factors, and strategic initiatives.
  • Adjusts resource allocation throughout the fiscal year based on internal and external factors.
  • Reviews monthly financial data, accounts for variances, and analyzes financial performance to meet objectives.

Patient/Customer Engagement

  • Uses feedback from patients/customers to strengthen relationships and drive satisfaction improvements.
  • Conducts comparisons with similar organizations to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Collects and analyzes data (e.g., surveys, feedback, complaints) to improve processes and address concerns.
  • Resolves patient/customer complaints promptly and effectively.

Methods & Processes

  • Monitors departmental processes for compliance with metrics, rules, and policies.
  • Evaluates and adjusts processes to meet targets and ensure alignment with hospital mission and values.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and enforces organizational policies.

Strategy & Planning

  • Aligns departmental strategies with organizational goals and develops tactics to achieve them.
  • Identifies and implements specific tactics to carry out strategic plans within the department.

Achieving & Evaluating

  • Monitors progress, adjusts activities to meet milestones, and measures outcomes.
  • Analyzes gaps and recommends modifications to the Director/Executive.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of OB or Women's Health clinical experience
  • 2+ years of Nurse Manager / Nurse Leadership experience in an OB and Women's Services

Additional Competencies and Skills:

  • Excellent management skills with thorough knowledge of all areas of business operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of the company's products and services.
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to complex matters and experience sound decision making, problem solving and business planning techniques.

Working Hours:

This is a full time in person position M-F with 24 hour oversight of unit.
